Busy Week

I haven't been on here in a few days. We have been super busy at school and I am also getting my ESOL Endorsement online so I have had lots of work to do. We have been studying penguins this week and using ideas from other teacher blogs we did a cutesy chart.

We also went out into the hall and pretended to be Emperor Penguin daddies and try to waddle with an egg on the top of our feet. My kiddos had such fun with this. One of my students had a plan, he was going to curl up his toes to see if the egg would stay and believe it or not, he waddled farther than any of us, but he still didn't get far.

Here is one of the anchor charts that I have in my classroom. I Love Anchor Charts!! My students  refer to them often when working.

We also had the 100th day of school this past Thursday!! I can't believe we have been at school 100 days!!
We did a fun drawing of what we look like now and what we would look like in 100 years. Obviously some of my students didn't think they would be doing very well in 100 years!!  Too Funny!!

I have created a new unit for TeachersPayTeachers. It is Free!! A mini unit about bugs.
It contains an ABC order page, an adding and subtraction page and a label the fly page. ( I did the fly page because my reading story this week is about a fly.)  Just click on the pic!

Lost My Marbles!

Well, I can finally say it! I have lost my marbles, NO REALLY! I had a jar in my classroom for my students to fill with marbles for compliments and good behavior and now I can't find it! So I have LOST MY MARBLES!!
Surely I have just misplaced it, who in his right mind would want an old coffee jar full of marbles??!! My kiddos were trying to help me find it by looking under books. I said "Seriously??" I don't think the marble jar will fit under a book.  Oh well, I am sure it will turn up, but that sure was a lot of marbles we had already collected.

We have had some real stinky weather in North Georgia for about a week and a half. Rain, rain, rain, is all we get. My kiddos have not been able to go outside in forever and boy do they need it! Last Friday one of my fellow teachers came up with a GREAT idea! We had Fun Friday and had reading, math, language activities and recess out in the hallway. The kids were so good we plan to do it again. It was a great break from being in the classroom all day long. The teachers monitored and we took turns giving a thirty minute break to each other. It was AWESOME!!  I must dash, I think my chicken is burning!!
Oh, I plan on posting some more things on TpT, Check it out!

Will It Be A Snow Day???

To the dismay of some of my co-workers I have been doing my snow dance all day. We are expecting some snow tonight and although it is supposed to be a light snow, it will be enough to close our school. Woo Hoo! I love me a snow day! I know we may have to make it up, but snow is so beautiful! If you don't know what a snow dance is, it is like a rain dance, but it is for snow. LOL  Besides if I get a snow day I can blog and make stuff for TpT. Haha  Speaking of snow, we must be in for a big weather change because my kiddos were a little CRAZY today! I have to tell you what happened yesterday, I forgot to post it on my blog. Some of our school maintenance men came in to hang my clock on the wall and it was during reading time. Well, I must have been loopy to think we could continue while they were in there. So we just stopped and watched as they hung the clock. Sometimes you just have to stop and take advantage of the moment. Well I am off to wait for the snow! It will be here, it will be here, I am willing it to snow.

Is It Wednesday Already!

Wow, I can't believe it is already Wednesday! We have been super busy in my classroom. We have been learning about transition words and today we made a booklet about how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The kiddos loved it!   We have also been reading all about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and watched a short video about him today and in the video we got to hear part of his famous "I Have A Dream" speech. They wanted to hear more of it, but we ran out of time. Maybe tomorrow!
I am happy to say that 100 people have downloaded my Pig Rhyming Game and 60 people have downloaded my Snowflake page. They are both free!! Take a look on TpT.

I put a new pack for sale today on TpT. It is a Valentine packet and contains an ABC Order worksheet, a plurals worksheet, and a word scramble all with a valentine theme. The pack is $1.00.
Go check it out!!                    http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/

New TPT Unit

I am so excited! I finally completed the mini unit that goes with the book Miss Spider's Tea Party! It contains lots of literature, writing, and math activities that tie in with the book. If you are an educator and you haven't tried TeacherspayTeachers, you need to check it out. They have lesson plans, games, clip art, and units that have been made by teachers. You can even find FREE items!

Not much happening on the home front. Just a relaxing Sunday, except the Falcons lost. But on a happier note Tebow won!! Yea Denver!  I promised myself that I would go to bed early tonight, but as you can see it is not happening. I have a full week of school this week and if it is anything like the three days of last week, I am in for a LOONNGG week!

If you get a chance check out my mini unit on TPT!   Only $2.00!!

Another Lazy Saturday!

I have to admit, I have not done much of anything today. There is so much to do at my house, but I have been a slacker today! My husband thought I wasn't feeling well and offered to sing "Soft Kitty"(Sheldon's song) to me, but I assured him I was just taking a much needed rest today. He did go and get us a pizza for supper, which I was thankful for, don't think I could have cooked a meal tonight. I spent the afternoon watching "The Tudors" on Netflix. I love this show!! It is about King Henry VIII of England and I love anything that has to do with kings and queens.

I worked on a mini unit last night to post to TPT later on, that is when I make a Paypal account. I haven't done that yet, and I am not sure I even know how. May have to have some help with that. I am so excited about the amount of downloads of my free items on TPT!!  Woo Hoo!! Glad someone likes my work!

Well my pizza grows cold and the Lions and Saints are playing football. Gotta go!

I Should be Asleep!

Well, here it is 11:00 and I am still sitting at my computer. Am I crazy??!! I have to get up very early in the morning to go to school! I have been sitting in front of this computer all evening long(except when I was cooking our supper), working on a literature unit to go with the book Mrs. Spider's Tea Party. We have only had a three day week at school this week, but it sure has felt like a looonngg week. Don't know if I could have made a 5 day week!!

Kids are so sweet. One of my reading students was absent yesterday, but she was back today. The first thing she did when she came into my room was give me a big hug and ask if I had a nice Christmas. How many kids do that??!!  Melts my heart. I guess this is one reason I love my job.  Well I must remove myself from this computer chair and stumble my way to the bed. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! Fridays are always so much fun!

Awesome First Day Back From Holidays

My students were so quiet today! It almost seemed like the first day of school! I don't know if they were still asleep from getting up so early or if they had too much festive fun over the holidays! We had an awesome day and got lots done in class. Thanks to my awesome friend Cynthia I have posted my first product to TPT! I am so glad she is computer savvy because I am definitely not, but she is teaching me lots. She has a fantastic blog(www.2ndgradepad.blogspot.com/) and also has several things for sale on TPT!  Go check it out!
I have not learned how to link TPT items to my blog yet, but I will soon! If you would like to get my game FREE, go to Teacherspayteachers and download it free. Just search for Pig Rhyming!

On another note, in case you would like to know why my blog is called 2nd Grade Pig Pen, it is because I am known as the Pig Lady at my school. I have an abundant collection of pigs in my classroom and it continues to grow each year. Most of my past students, and some students that I don't even know refer to me as the teacher that loves pigs!  It is so funny!  Everyone have a great evening and I will blog at you later!

No School Today

No school today due to icy road conditions. We had some snow in the North Georgia Mountains last night. Although I was ready to return to my kiddies, I can use this day to work on my new blog. Yay!! Hope you stay warm where you are. Now I am off for some much needed coffee this morning.

Hello!

Hello all my fellow educators! This is my new attempt at creating a blog. I have had lots of help from my fellow teacher Cynthia Vautrot(she is FANTASTIC). She has an awesome blog! Check it out! It is http://www.2ndgradepad.blogspot.com/. I am so excited to be blogging! I have viewed lots of teacher blogs and am absolutely blown away by some of the things I have seen. Teachers are so willing to share ideas.
I will start posting some of my classroom activities and TPT units after I get the complete hang of this blogging stuff.  Happy Blogging!!
