Field Day

Well today was our field day and I must say it was a complete success!! We were supposed to have it yesterday, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with us. Today it was nice, not too hot or cool, but "Just Right".We had a bouncy house and all the 2nd grade teachers each had a different activity and we ended the day with a tug of war between classes!! The kids had an awesome time. I was so busy, I didn't even get to take pics! Hopefully some of my colleagues captured some photos for me to share later. My activity was the "Shoe Fly". I found this on Pinterest and OH MY GOODNESS!! The kids loved it and it is so simple. There is nothing to prepare. The kids had to loosen their shoe and hold it with their toe and when I counted to 3 they all tried to throw their shoe farther than anyone else. It was a hoot!! After the excitement of the bouncy house wore off, I stayed pretty busy! Can't wait to see what tomorrow holds!! It is board game day!

New TpT item: Getting Piggy With it!

Hi! Hope everyone had an awesome Mother's Day and got to spend some quality time with your family. Tomorrow begins my last week of school with my kiddos. I can't believe it is almost over!! Where does the time go?! Wanted to let you know that I have finished a new item for TpT! I have created a Back To School Pig theme for the classroom! It has desk name plates, calendar numbers, months of the year, days of the week, posters for specials, name tags,a pig themed behavior chart, and pig birthday charts for each month of the year.  My classroom is decorated in pigs, and I am always having problems finding just what I want to use to continue the pig theme throughout my room so I thought--Why not make some!! So I did!

Here it is! Go to my store and check it out! Just click here!

Well, it has rained here the entire day, and tomorrow is supposed to be our field day. Not so sure that is going to happen! I must be off! Bedtime is near!!

Linky Party

Hi! I have linked up with Cynthia Vautrot at 2nd Grade Pad! We are blogging about how we pack up at the end of the year and what we get ready in advance for next year. Here are some things I do to get ready for the end of the year.

1. I have not done this yet (took pics in a colleagues room) but I am going to put clothespins around the top of my room to hang anchor charts that we are using through the year. This gives my students something to refer back to throughout the lesson and the year as we review. I will hot glue them on the wall. ( thank goodness for hot glue!!)

2. I put rolling coasters on my bookshelves so they will be easier to move. Every year we have to pack up our rooms and make sure every thing can be moved out of the room for the custodians to come in and wax and polish our floors. So if I have a bookcase that does not have rollers, I have to remove all the books and put them somewhere??!! Coasters on the bookshelves remedies this problem!

3.I take down my curtains in my classroom and take them home to be washed or I might find some new material for some new curtains over the summer!

What are some ways you get ready for the end of the school year!!
Join Cynthia's linky party and maybe we can all get some new ideas!!

8 More Days and Counting!

I can't believe I have only 8 more days with my kiddos! Boy are they getting "Antsy"! We have been finishing up some end of the year benchmark tests and they are trying so hard to stay focused--But School is almost OVER!
On another note, I have a funny that happened in my classroom. I have a student that is diabetic and sometimes he wants to eat things that he nor I am sure that he can have, so off he goes to the school nurse. Yesterday he wanted something that we were not sure about, so instead of sending him to the nurse, I called her cell number and gave him the phone to talk to her. It started ringing and I handed him the phone so he would be ready when she answered. He said hello and began to ramble on about why he was calling and how many carbs were in what he wanted to eat and he kept talking, so I thought everything was alright. Well, then he hangs up the phone and tells me that it was the wrong number!! But he talked forever! Evidently the person couldn't get a word in edge wise!! I apologized and dialed the correct number and he had to start the whole conversation over again!! I wish you could have seen his face when he told me it was the wrong number! Priceless!!
Only in my classroom! While I am at it, let me share this one with you! I have a SPED student in my class. The sweetest little boy you will ever meet. One day as we were going to specials we stopped at the bathroom and I told everyone to go quickly. Well, he was still in the bathroom when we started to leave, so I thought he would just catch up with us. Well when he FINALLY did catch up to our line, he said and I quote--"Mrs. Williams, I turned around and "POOF" you were gone! I tried to "sniff" you out with my nose, but I couldn't find you!" How precious is that?!! Maybe I need to change perfumes if people are "sniffing" me out!!
